Alumni launch new communications committee

Written by: Garrison Ledbury - 11/29/20

The Alumni Board of Delta-Iota Chapter announced the beginning of its new Communications Committee. This committee, spearheaded by three of the chapter’s own alumni, is tasked with creating a stronger line of communication between the active chapter, Alumni Board, and alumni at large while fostering connections within the chapter and with the campus community.

First conceived back in late 2019, the Communications Committee began with the belief that communication was lacking in the chapter in multiple areas. With support from recent alumni, the committee began to gain traction going into 2020. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plans for the committee were put on hold. As of last month, this project has been given the greenlight to begin operations with Garrison Ledbury (‘17) as committee chair, Jared Wright (‘14) as editor, and Neil Zielinski (‘11) as website manager.

Along with better communication, the committee has plans to undertake the following objectives:

  • Pursue new fundraising efforts for the 555 Renovation project

  • Invest in alumni outreach to bring alumni and their families back to the chapter more often

  • Write articles on active, alumni, and 555 Renovation news

  • Revitalize the Sigma Pi Delta-Iota website

The participation of the alumni is key for the success of this committee, and there are many ways to help. Any alumni with ideas for stories are encouraged to send an email to spdicommunications@gmail.com. Please provide as much information on your story as possible and a member of the committee will be in contact with you. The Communications Committee is also looking for alumni who would be willing to join. There are currently spots open for writers, editors, and website developers. Ideas for future fundraising events and alumni outreach are also in high demand.
