555 Renovation Campaign Update - Summer 2022

The Alumni Board is happy to share a summer 2022 update to the 555 Renovation campaign. Increased donations have allowed the board to begin implementing small but meaningful upgrades to the basement.


SIGMA PI ALUMNI SPOTLIGHt: COrey and Dennis conohan

The influence of Sigma Pi can start young, as it did in the case of brother Dennis Conohan (Epsilon Class, ‘71) and his son, brother Corey Conohan (Gamma Epsilon Class, ‘06). With Corey as a legacy, this father and son duo have fond memories of watching UW-Platteville’s homecoming parades together in front of the chapter house. Interacting with brothers at such a young age inspired Corey to pursue pledging Sigma Pi during his first semester of college. As it had been in Dennis’ time, the Conohans would find themselves both involved in critical moments in Sigma Pi Delta-Iota’s history.


Pioneer Pantry empowers sigma pi brothers to fight food insecurity

Since 2017, Pioneer Provisions and Pioneer Pantry - the student organization running Provisions - have enlisted the aid of many Greek students at UW-Platteville, including Sigma Pi brothers. Today, Sigma Pi has been proud partners with Pioneer Pantry for nearly four years. Sigma Pi’s support of Pioneer Provisions has enabled UW-Platteville students to access food and other essential items needed to succeed in the classroom.


Delta Chi Epsilon and the Origins of “Pioneer Pete”

The University of Wisconsin Platteville’s “Pioneer Pete” has long been a staple name and rallying cry for the university’s Pioneer students. Pioneer Pete is often seen on campus during numerous school functions including homecoming, sporting events, and graduation ceremonies. While all UW-Platteville students are familiar with Pete, his trusty pickaxe and blue and orange miners outfit, the history of this unique mascot - and his connection to UW-Platteville’s Greek community - is less well known, specifically Pete’s relationship with Delta Chi Epsilon Fraternity, known today as the Delta-Iota chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity, International.

The chapter has embarked on a project aimed at safeguarding the memories of countless Sigma Pi brothers. Using a small handheld digital scanner, the actives are working diligently to collect and make available Delta-Iota’s history.


Delta-Iota Chapter reflects on progress during 124th Founders’ Day

On the 124th anniversary of Sigma Pi’s founding, the actives and alumni wished to reflect on the progress made by the chapter within the last year. With COVID-19 still surging throughout the nation, Sigma Pi Delta-Iota has persisted in meeting its goals and looks forward towards a brighter future.

Sigma Pi Delta-Iota Chapter is happy to present our first Sigma Pi Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Griessmeyer! Brother Griessmeyer (‘94) is the founder of Race Day Events, a full-service event production business. His dedication to athletic endurance events has enabled him and his company to assist charities in raising money for meaningful causes.


Chapter house basement to begin first phase of remodel

The Alumni board has contracted Badger Basement Systems to repair the foundation and provide protections against water damage in the future.

Delta-Iota alumni will be heading a new committee to bring regular news updates on the actives, alumni at large, and 555 renovation.
