The Alumni Board of Delta-Iota Chapter directed the actives to embark on a photo album scanning project to digitize and upload thousands of pictures of Sigma Pi brothers to a Google drive where they will be safely stored away for alumni to view. Many of these photos have lived in the dining room cabinet for decades. A handful of photos have already been uploaded to the Communications Committee drive by a group of recently initiated actives, and plans are being developed to transfer all of the photos in every yearbook to a cloud platform.

The Delta Iota Chapter of Sigma Pi first moved into our house at 555 W. Main St. in 1970. It is unknown how old the oldest photos are, but there are at least 50 yearbooks the active members will be scanning through.

“There are tens of thousands of photos…” explained newly initiated brother, Daniel Brins. “Scanning all of these photos and uploading them will take a few semesters.”

The project is being done in rotations where different groups of brothers will take turns scanning in a set amount of pictures per week.

“Scanning the yearbooks has been one of the more interesting things I’ve gotten to do during my time as a Sigma Pi. Looking back on our history through the years is really cool and I cannot wait for people to be able to access them online to reminisce about their times as an active Sigma Pi member” Sage Parker Reinhard said.

Not only will uploading the yearbook photos to a drive keep them safe, but the photos can then be viewed by alumni and actives. The photos will be available to see at any time once they are properly archived within the chapter website. Once the project is finished, actives can upload their own photos for alumni to see as well. This will allow them to maintain the connection with brothers from many past generations.
